Reality? What reality? In LA, as part of promotion for the Simpons Movie, you can shop at Kwik-E-Mart, and so we did. This pleased Ethan, who was in a foul mood from a day of furniture shopping. On Tuesday we move into our new home, and we're out looking for the furniture we'll need.

We sampled "soccer in the sun" today, and watched David Beckham make his debut for the LA Galaxy against the mighty Chelsea. The atmosphere was OK, but nothing compared to how the Bridge would have been on such a lovely and eventful day. Chelsea 1 - Galaxy 0.

Having spent some afternoons at the El Segundo skate park, Ethan's skateboarding has moved on quite a lot, and he has the bruises to prove it.

We took our Fourth of July and went out to Point Fremin on Palos Verdes peninsula. It was crowded with families setting up barbecues for the afternoon, playing games, napping and just enjoying the unexpected Wednesday off. We went down to look at the "sunken city" of San Pedro, a luxury neighborhood that slipped off the side of the cliff in the late 1920s. Now its a jumble of fragmented streets, palm trees and broken telephone poles, covered in graffiti.
