I left Detroit on December 25 to go to Biakonur, Kazakhstan to see the launch of SSTL's latest satellite, GIOVE-A. The trip turned into a 60-hour exercise in futility--though I did get to see Moscow. Have a look at the slide show.

Ethan built a snowman when the weather warmed up a bit and the snow became better packing.

There was no ski rental, but Ethan and I were able to buy some sleds and risk injury at Stony Creek Metropark.

We got a chance to play with Ethan's new chemistry set tonight.

For Ethan's birthday we took Isaac, Josh and Matt to the Science Museum in London.

Late Sunday afternoon, Ethan and I dodged the rain and started building a sukkah. We didn't finish it, but Ethan did get to start learning about power tools.

We took Ethan and Matt to Brighton to enjoy the indian summer Saturday before the start of school. Rocks, rock, crazy golf, piers and fish chips: everything Brighton.

Between the 11th and the 15th of August, Ethan and I backpacked in Utah's High Uintas Wilderness. We went out the Bald Mountain trail to Red Castle Peak and back, carrying all of our food and filtering our water from the rivers. The weather was relatively kind to us, and we enjoyed the quiet and the beauty of the mountains.

There was an open day at the local agricultural college today, and the weather was the best so far, so we spent the afternoon on fairground attractions.

Today Ethan and I went on a bike ride along the Thames tow path after cheder. The weather was sunny, but breezy and cool. We stopped for ice cream anyway.
